It is chic to be Latina! We are the prime decision makers for purchasers in our households. And we love looking and feeling good and it shows. Latinas purchase more beauty, skin, hair products and children’s clothing than other females in the US. We have purchasing power and influence which represents our preferences not only for ourselves but also for our families. We can further empower ourselves by continuing our education and attaining college degrees.
Through Latina Fashionista, Latinas become aware of the importance of higher education and the impact it has on making a positive change in a community. Since its inception, Latina Fashionista has introduced its services to hundreds of youth and adults. We have presented at numerous events at schools, libraries, and youth conferences. Students and parents have participated in industry field-trips. Students have contacted the mentors for recommendations on education and careers. In 2012, three Latinas were awarded Latina Fashionista scholarships – the first of its kind – connecting Latinas+fashion+education!
