Latina Fashionista is an organization committed to the advancement of Latinas in the apparel industry by sharing information about education and leadership.

Latina Fashionista was founded by Roseanna Garcia, a Latina employed in the Los Angeles apparel industry.  As she worked in management for various apparel manufacturers, she observed inequality in the industry especially with minorities. This inspired Ms. Garcia to share her challenging experiences as well as her successes with those entering the industry.

Roseanna Garcia has over twenty years of experience working in the Los Angeles apparel industry.  Her professional experiences took her to Russia, where she worked with a lingerie company and to China to share Latina Fashionista with college students in Zhengzhou.  She also conducted research for an L.A. County report on the educational institutions offering apparel programs.

Roseanna holds an MBA in operations management from Ca State Polytechnic University, Pomona, a BA in design from CaState University, Los Angeles and an AA in fashion design from Los Angeles Trade Technical College. www.linkedin.com/pub/roseanna-garcia/6/439/aba

Hi, We’re doing a profile on Lilliana Vazquez – she runs The Cheap Chica’s Guide to Style blog (http://cheapchicas.com/). She also is a TV host on a bunch of different shows, like NY Live and the Nate Berkus Show, as a fashion correspondent. She’s all about getting people to look good without breaking the bank. Her profile is part of a series we’re doing called Nueva Latina, so we’re basically showcasing Latinas who are doing well in their fields and who are inspiring other Latinas.

As part of the episode we want to find a young Latina, around 14-18, who’s really into fashion and has their own blog, Tumblr following, YouTube with good hits, or some online presence that shows their passion for style. Our client is really looking for this person to be a bicultural Latina, because that’s Lilliana’s story too. The idea would be that we arrange for Lilliana and this girl to hang out for an afternoon, and Lilliana would be her mentor for a day.

We’re shooting with Lilliana next Tuesday, 3/25, and were hoping to shoot this piece with the girl the next day on 3/26 ideally in New York. We would like for her to live in the New York area or be able to be in New York that day for the shoot.

Let me know if you know anyone that fits this.

    Thanks!
